Helping nonprofits thrive

Services

My goal is to help your nonprofit organization thrive. If you need assistance with strategic planning prep, organization and program evaluation, interim leadership, Board development, or expert grant writing, I can help.

  • Working with your Board of Directors and staff, I’ll guide you through a process to clarify your organization’s purpose, vision, and guiding principles.

  • I’ll guide your Board and staff through a process to take a positive and optimistic (but still realistic) look at your organization or program – and its budget – to position you for strategy development.

  • I can assist you in revitalizing an existing Board, advise on recruiting new Board members, and help you revise outdated Board policies.

  • My extensive nonprofit leadership experience can help your organization continue its mission-driven work in the event of a leadership vacancy.

  • My long track record of successful grant writing to foundations, businesses, and state and federal government agencies can help you get the funding you need to further your organization’s mission.

I am a creative, energetic, collaborative and resilient nonprofit and government leader with over 35 years of experience in management, community engagement, grant writing, public relations, advocacy and public policy analysis. Since 2006, I have worked exclusively in arts and culture, first leading a multi-county nonprofit arts services organization in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, and most recently serving as director of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

My long career has taken some interesting twists and turns. With two degrees in political science, I started out as a public policy wonk focused primarily on health and behavioral health. This led to leadership of a statewide industry association of community behavioral health providers and leadership positions in two nonprofit community behavioral health agencies. In the late 1990s – early 2000s, I also went back to school, earning a Bachelor of Science in visual art and Master of Fine Arts in painting. After several years of combining adjunct teaching and part time nonprofit and other work, I jumped headfirst into the nonprofit arts world in 2006. My resume is available here.
